Jal Manthan - IV

A two dMinistry of Water resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR, RD & GR) is organizing ‘Jal Manthan-4’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi from 28th-29th July, 2017 for wide consultations among various stakeholders to brain-storm new ideas for solutions to various issues of water sector. About 700 participants comprising Hon’ble Union Ministers, Water Resource/Irrigation Ministers of the States / U.T’s, MPs, Senior Officers from Central, State/ UT Governments, eminent experts, water sector professionals, NGO’s etc are expected to attend the event.

During Jal Manthan-4, discussions on issues of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and its implementation; State Projects-Repair, Renovation & Restoration of Water Bodies (RRR), Minor Irrigation (MI), Command Area Development (CAD); Interlinking of Rivers etc shall be taken up followed by a Chintan Baithak.

Jal Manthan-III

Jal Manthan-III was organized on January 13, 2017 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Union Minister for WR, RD & GR, Sushri Uma Bharti, inaugurated the conference and Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble MoS, MoWR,RD&GR, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Hon’ble MoS, MoWR,RD&GR and Shri Brij Mohan Agrawal, Hon’ble Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Government of Chhattisgarh graced the event with their august presence.

Following six technical sessions were held in Jal Manthan-III:

  1. PMKSY Implementation;
  2. River Basin Management;
  3. River Rejuvenation & Ecology;
  4. Flood Management;
  5. Water Use Efficiency; and
  6. Participatory Irrigation Management

The daylong event had consultations and discussions on various issues relating to water sector including Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), River Basin Management, River Rejuvenation and Ecology, Flood management, Water Use Efficiency and Participatory Irrigation Management. The focus of the event was refining policies of the Ministry to make them more people friendly and responsive to the needs of the States.
